Why is it so important?
You’ve probably heard that phrase…
When you buy from a small business, you make an actual person do a happy dance.
Buying from local, new and growing businesses, you’re helping them build a sense of community and strengthen as a brand. You’ll have helped feed someone’s dream, and probably even helped feed their family. Let’s face it, you’re going to feel pretty good! There’s a lot of satisfaction which comes from supporting a small business’s growth.
Not only will your decision to support small, independent businesses create more jobs, you’ll also be helping to strengthen the local economy which we all know is so blooming important right now!
Many of these brands highlighted below are UK-based businesses that I have discovered via Instagram. It’s times like these when social media really is INVALUABLE.
I highly recommend you check out each of the shop small gift ideas below and follow the brands on their social channels as an additional boost – The links are all there ready and waiting for you below…
Shop Small Gift Ideas
Edition 4
Let’s get started!
Twinkle Toes
Laines London create just the PRETTIEST slippers! This fluffy, faux fur footwear brand adorn their designs with beaded jewelled embellishments. This year has seen us all spend unbelievable amounts of time in our houses, loungewear sales have rocketed and comfort is obviously of paramount importance. With so many fantastic designs including rockets, lobsters, and panthers, Laines London also boast some really beautiful socks and velvet bags. Each ‘brooch’ can be removed making the slippers and socks super easy to clean. The rubber soles equal minimal slipping and the super-soft faux fur lines the cross-over straps meaning they’re only the most luxurious, statement slippers!

Mood-Enhancing Moments
Prismologie is a marvellous brand, founded by empowering entrepreneur and princess of the Kuwaiti royal family, H.E. Sheikha Intisar AlSabah. The wonderfully luxurious skincare and wellbeing brand aims to transform lives through colour and scent; Prismologie embodies everything I LOVE about the power of design. Proudly British-made, this small (but swiftly growing!) brand utilises the power of scent within their wares, spanning a wide range of bath & body products. Prismologie have been fortunate to enjoy many press features recently in the likes of Vogue, Red & Grazia magazines, meaning this would be a fantastic gift for any of your fashion-savvy friends. With such a strong mission of enabling everyone to enjoy self-care, making it more attainable for all, Prismologie’s work transforms a simple bathtime & skincare regime into an experience which is indulgent and, ultimately, mood-enhancing – Undoubtedly, something we could all do with, regardless of these uncertain times! I can already list many of my friends who would benefit from a Prismologie gift this year.
Cruelty, Paraben, GM, SLES and Petrolatum Free. No Plastic Microbeads. Vegan.

Semi-Precious Statements
You only have to spend 5 seconds scrolling my Instagram feed to notice how MUCH I love agate, geodes and crystals. YAA YAA LONDON is the incredible brand bringing you adjustable, semi-precious gemstone jewellery. Proudly producing statement, cocktail pieces such as agate slice rings, pendant earrings and gilded necklaces, YAA YAA LONDON is the creation of Yvonne, whose brand name reflects her initials but also a Ghanaian name. This is truly a brand to keep your eye on! So many stunning designs and such a powerful female at the helm of this small business – What a wonderful gift to one of your gal-pals!

Pawsh Pooches
At Christmas time, it’s not just us humans who deserve a treat. This particular brand is ideal for all my friends who have pet dogs! The Distinguished Dog Company produce what I am fondly referring to as ‘Partywear for Pets’. From bedazzled bow-ties and personalised dog tags to bold bandanas and toys, you can treat your 4-legged friends to a new item or two in their discerning wardrobe. Human companions need not go without as The Distinguished Dog Company also sell matching items and slogan sweaters for devoted owners. The DD Company ship worldwide and they also accept bespoke orders which I feel is just a real risky little game as I’m ALREADY planning on commissioning a wondrous bow-tie for the dog I do not have.

Thoughtful Flames
Finally, a brand I have been wanting to feature on gracefulblog.com for SO long… Kindred Fires. Co-founded by Grace Sherriff and produced in Manchester, you can personalise these lovely candles to make for an incredibly thoughtful gift. The ‘Smells Like’ ranges act as a scented reminder of a particular feeling or time whilst the range of white vessel designs allow for a twinkle of light to peek through when lit. I also absolutely love Kindred Fires’ take on an advent candle – But with the big day now creeping closer and closer, I’m definitely going to bag a couple to gift next year instead! My go-to would be the candles where you can add the door number and street name of your chosen recipient – What a lovely gift for someone celebrating their first year in a new home.
