Last Minute Gift Ideas
The Cost of Living Crisis is hitting us hard in the UK and I’ve been extremely mindful of this when considering whether to share my conventional gift ideas blog posts with you each week. Coupled with the chaos of the postal strikes here in the UK, I figured some last-minute ideas would be a brilliant focus so I have gathered 5 gifts including subscriptions, activity gifts and a few that have longer lifespans to bring joy time and time again to the recipients!
Grab a hot drink and put your favourite festive music on – here come some gifting ideas perfect for if you’ve left it to the last minute…
For Foodie Friends
Bring an end to their ‘what on earth am I going to have for dinner?’ dilemma after a long, tiring day. Pasta Evangelists are known for their fresh pasta subscriptions. Each box contains authentic, fresh pasta along with garnishes and sauces. Everything comes pre-portioned so two dishes of restaurant quality can be whipped up in a matter of minutes. What *may* have been a last-minute gift decision quickly becomes a pretty nifty present for the taste-bud adventurers in your life!
For Creatives & Crafters
A perfect last-minute gift idea for the more creative friends and family members on your list is this kit from CAST. The beautifully packaged box contains everything they’ll need to craft their own bespoke piece of jewellery! Starting with the blue wax and moulds (for a headstart on necklaces, rings and earrings), truly unique treasures can be produced. Have a sneak peek at the ‘one-of-one’ creations other CASTers have produced here! Stepping it up a gear (and when the creator is happy with what they’ve designed), CAST’s team of expert silversmiths will use the finished piece of blue wax to bring the jewellery to life in silver. This is such an unusual, cool gift idea – I think it’d also be ideal for the hardest person to buy for… The infamous ‘person who has everything’.
For Literary Lovers
Is the recipient of your last-minute gift an avid reader? Here’s the perfect bookish gift! With The Willoughby Book Club, you can gift a subscription across a vast range of genres – including crime, natural history, wellbeing and there’s even a thoughtful ‘Mum and Baby’ option. The books are carefully selected and beautifully presented, dropping through the letterbox each month. This is a great gift option for someone who is whizzing through books but struggling to decide what to pick up next… The Willoughby Book Club subscription lines up their next read based on the genre(s) you know they already love.
For The Journalers
I am such a devoted fan of Papier – they’re often my go-to for cards, journals and beautifully designed, printed goods. I absolutely love their personalised journals; particularly their wellness ones! If you have a friend or family member who would benefit from some mindful me-time, I highly recommend one of these. In true Papier fashion, there are plenty of beautiful designs to choose from – is your gift recipient more into a celestial, constellation-inspired design or perhaps in need of a bold and joyful wallop of wellness?! It goes without saying that journals are super practical, functional and long-lasting gifts. If time is on your side with this last minute gift, you can also have Papier journals personalised with their name(s) meaning this is definitely a thoughtful and affordable gift they can come back to time and time again. Empty notebooks often leave us with the blank-page panic of how on earth to fill them but the Papier wellbeing journal has so many well-designed pages with prompts and trackers. Gift someone the opportunity for endless moments of mindfulness, organisation AND self-care!
For Gaming Brains
The Enigmagram is an escape room-style puzzle gift. At the heart of this puzzle is a personalised message you’ll leave for the recipients. They’ll have to crack the code, solving lots of puzzles along the way. Countless glowing reviews mention how The Enigmagram’s games provide fun from the day into the night – just what you need for a Christmas get-together with friends or family! I consider this one to be a wise, affordable spend because of the HOURS of play it brings. There are quite a few editions now, also including a Junior option suitable for 7-12-year-olds. I have gifted similar ‘escape room in an envelope’ presents to old friends in previous years – my advice is to make sure your recipients are the sort who have attention spans to truly appreciate this awesome gift and won’t just skip to the end.
And with that, Merry Christmas! As always, thanks so much for reading the 2022 guide of last minute gift ideas.
If you’ve explored some of the brands and businesses mentioned above or if you always enjoy reading my Shop Small Gift Ideas series’ each year, please do share this post with your friends (just don’t let on what you’re treating them to this Christmas!).
